Beautiful July day at Utopia @ Broughton Hall

Oh how I love this venue, Sophie & Terry picked an absolute belter for their wonderful day. The couple had brilliant taste and requested muted colours & lots of eucalyptus and lavender – music to our ears! Sophie and her bridesmaids bouquets featured seeded eucalyptus, olive, lavender, pink waxflower and astilbe, finished with grey hand dyed ribbon. We decorated the industrial black beams with a mix of eucalyptus & the top table was adorned with mismatched jars and a personalized ‘Mr & Mrs Ryan’ apple crate filled with the flowers found in the bouquets. Sophie firmly stamped her style on Utopia with lots of DIY touches including baking, cross stitch signage and lawn games. The very talented Natalie Pluck Photography ( captured Sophie & Terry’s beautiful day perfectly.

The last 6 months!!

Well, what a fantastic first six months in our new home at Carlton Nurseries! During August we felt as if we were on holiday, the weather was beautiful and we were surrounded by glorious scented flowers and plants. Bliss! What a relaxing place to work.

We also had the pleasure of providing wedding flowers for Georgie and Pete, the owners of Carlton nurseries on August 7th. The day was beautiful and fun filled from beginning to end. The bouquets were vintage purple and green, featuring ocean song and avalanche roses, lisianthus, veronica and the gorgeous smelling eucalyptus. The Groom’s button hole featured Georgie’s favourite flower, the Gladioli with a cute little gnome nestling inside!

September was filled with lots of birthday flowers and new corporate clients. Our halloween pumpkin arrangements were popular in October and in November all our christmas stock arrived which was very exciting! We also started making our christmas fragrance for our handmade woodwork candles. December was all go! We were so busy right up to christmas eve with orders for christmas flowers, wreaths and table decorations. Our “flowers every month for a year” subscriptions were popular at christmas and it is lovely to deliver them using seasonal flowers.

So now its a new year and we are busy getting ready for Valentines, Mother’s Day and Easter!

Welcome to our very 1st blog post! We thought we would begin by telling you a bit about where we are based and what we stock. We were making our flowery creations from a home based studio in Harden originally but have very recently moved into the beautiful surroundings of Carlton Nurseries, Sandy Lane near Bingley. The Nursery sells home grown bedding plants, trees, shrubs and perennials as well as home grown veg! It’s so nice to be able to work alongside the pretty items they have available.

Within our little nook at Carlton Nurseries, we have fresh flowers available daily for delivery and collection from the shop. Our stock is always super fresh and we tend to buy little and often from the market to provide the best quality flowers to our customers! Most of our arrangements are delivered in water in either our signature rustic or black bags – we also have a range of pickle and other jars if you fancy something different!

As a small independent business ourselves, we love to support fellow small crafty businesses and stock lovely quirky things! At the moment we have some beautiful egg houses, handmade and painted in a range of heritage colours – they fit 12 eggs (Carlton Nurseries have free range chickens and ducks & sell their eggs – how handy!!) and are £30 each. We also have some rustic wooden notice boards which are £8 each.

Have you heard of Kate Guest? She designs and prints the most amazing cards! We are very proud to stock her range which covers an array of occasions including birthdays, births, weddings & thank you’s. These go great with our occasion flowers. Best of all she donates 10% of her profits to Watered to provide clean water in developing countries.

Last but not least we have our hand poured lemongrass & lavender wooden wick crackle candles – all made from scratch by our fair hands! These beauts smell absolutely amazing and the gentle crackling sound and the spa like fragrance is super relaxing after a hard day! The candles are £10 and come wrapped in a rustic gift bag.

So, welcome to our new shop! We hope you can pay us a visit soon.
